SIRJO COCCHI & BALTA BORDOY - THE BLUES WAY | Friday's Blues
The Blues Way, a musical project that unites SirJo Cocchi and Balta Bordoy, arrives again in Barcelona. A trip to the tradition of the language of electric blues of the 60s and the golden age of rhythm & blues, which can be tasted on Friday, February 28 at the MEAM.
SirJo and Balta began to collaborate in Mallorca in 2016 and this project is the fruit of the seed that was planted at that time. His first album is entitled “Heads Up!” and presents Sirjo’s dynamic voice with the raw, genuine and authentic sound of Balta’s guitar. The recording was made in Barcelona, mixed and mastered by renowned producer and guitarist Kid Andersen with special guests such as Víctor Puertas or Nil Mujal.
SirJo Cocchi (Milan, Italy) started at a very young age in genres such as rock, soul, pop jazz or reggae, traveling to Los Angeles, where he graduated in KIT (Musician's Institute, keyboards department), performed at the New Orleans Jazz Fest (where he recorded with the master of the harmonica Andy J. Forest), participating in several editions of Umbria Jazz (Italy). He has recorded with Grammy Nominee Vaneese Thomas (from the legendary Stax family) and toured as a vocalist and pianist for Otis Grand and Big Daddy Wilson. SirJo has shared the stage with The Blues Brothers Band, Solomon Burke, Maceo Parker, Chaka Khan, Tower of Power or Dionne Warwick among many others.
A self-taught musician, Balta Bordoy is one of the most renowned blues guitarists in Spain today. Established in Barcelona, he has accompanied prominent singers such as Bobby Alexander, Jay Kaye and Salvador Sobral, as well as participating with his guitar in the tours of James Harman, Saix Gordon, Keith Dunn, Roger Wade or Kyle Esplin. He is also part of bands such as Balta Bordoy & The Bad Boys, The Dangerous Gentleman, The Rhythm Treasures and Big Mama Montse Band.Blues y rhythm & blues with: SIRJO COCCHI & BALTA BORDOY – THE BLUES WAY
