Urbes, contemporary landscape

International group show

From September 27, 2024, to January 26, 2025, the museum will open to the public the exhibition Urbes, Contemporary Landscapes, featuring around forty works by contemporary figurative artists who capture the essence and diversity of modern cities.

The exhibition explores how current artists represent the reality of their urban environment, establishing a dialogue between construction and destruction, between the individual and the collective. Painting an urban landscape is bearing witness to a transformation. The works invite us to reflect on the constant changes of urban life, driven by progress and ongoing environmental, political, and cultural challenges.

Through this exhibition, the distinctive architecture and iconic buildings of cities around the globe are highlighted, as well as hidden corners and fleeting scenes of nightlife. Some pieces emphasize the tension between the natural and the artificial, depicting areas where nature reclaims its rightful space among ruins and abandoned spaces.

This exhibition underscores the need for greater ecological awareness and urges us to find a sustainable balance between urban development and environmental conservation.

The MEAM invites everyone to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of modern cities through the unique perspective of contemporary figurative artists.

This exhibition merges the artistic and the existential. A city is as many cities as it has citizens, for each one feels and perceives it in a unique way. The subjective projections of the artists come to life on the canvas, transporting us to the multiple facets of urban life. The spaces are connoted, telling us stories. Streets, squares, and buildings are the stages where our lives unfold.
